WellMed Charitable Foundation awards $1.4 million to support older adults in Texas, Florida

The WellMed Charitable Foundation has awarded $1.4 million in grants to organizations serving older adults in Texas and Florida.

Recipients in and around the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex will receive grants in the coming weeks, these include Metrocrest; Senior Citizens of Greater Dallas; Texas Ramp Project;  Sixty and Better; Meals on Wheels of Collin County and Meals on Wheels of North Central Texas.

The agencies selected focus on combating social determinants of health, including food insecurity, economic security, transportation, housing and social isolation.

“All charities awarded provide crucial amenities to older adults or caregivers,” says Carol Zernial, the executive director of the WellMed Charitable Foundation.  “We are honored to support their essential work and are thankful for their contribution to the communities they serve.”

The WellMed Charitable has awarded grant funding to 37 organizations supporting older adults in Texas and Florida. Additionally, the WellMed Charitable Foundation donated $400,000 to Hope Heroes and $220,000 to grocery delivery programs and special events that support older adults and caregivers.
